Lighting The Dark Window
There is a region of the world in which nearly 2.7 billion people still do not have the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ to show them the way to salvation. It is known as the 10/40 window, a term coined by Luis Bush with AD2000 & Beyond Movement and by definition, is the part of the world which is located at 10 degrees to 40 degrees lattitude and longitude from the equator. In this dark window of mankind are all manner of idolatry, witchcraft, perversity, and wretched human suffering and need. Children are sold into slavery for no more than the equivalent of $16.00, or forced out on to the streets to beg for money, or worse yet, forced into prostitution either as a means of survival for themselves or for their family. Those who do not engage in such activities find themselves involved with many other forms of crime in order to simply stave away the gnawing of their empty stomachs for one more day. Yet it is not the emptiness in their stomachs which drives them to such acts, but an emptiness in their hearts. The darkness of the 10/40 window is found in the absence of the light of Jesus Christ within their hearts. The children are indeed the most tragic victims of this stronghold of darkness, for in them lies the hope and future of their nation. Is it any wonder then, that Satan has launched such an onslaught of devastation against these little ones?
There is, however, a river of light which is flowing throughout the land of the unreached. It is an army of brave native missionaries, willing to pay any price to bring light to those who sit in darkness. Through them entire villages are finding salvation through Jesus Christ, churches are being established in regions where once you would have been murdered for simply walking down the road carrying a Bible. Christian orphanages and schools are being raised up to take the starving children off the streets and out of a life of crime. Bible schools are being built to train those who have a calling of God on their lives to preach the gospel.
